If you are a UVic student (of any program) who is interested in writing and publishing book reviews, you’re in the right place! TSOW publishes book reviews on our website.

We are searching for concise, compelling reviews of any published writing: (novels, essay collections, memoirs, poetry—even films!).


Word count: 250-1000 words.

Please email your completed review (in docx. form) for consideration to the Editor-in-Chief (Ruby Harris) at thissideofwest@gmail.com, as well as a brief bio (25-75 words) and a headshot.

We will try our best to respond within 1 month of receiving your review.

TSOW is especially interested in book reviews that uplift the work of BIPOC, LGBTQ+, disabled, and other marginalized writers.
